Producers of new musical Six have announced they will be holding open casting for their next show via Instagram.
Anyone with a playing age of between 18 and 28 can audition for Club Mex, an immersive musical set in a holiday resort nightclub, which premieres at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre next year.
The show has a score by John-Victor, which fuses pop, dance and musical theatre, and a script by comedian Tamar Broadbent.
It is directed by Julie Atherton, who is best known as a performer in shows such as Avenue Q, Sister Act and Mamma Mia!, but has also directed productions including Fanny Hill at London’s Park Theatre.
Club Mex is produced by Global Musicals, which also produces Six, a musical about the wives of Henry VIII that is currently running at the Arts Theatre.
In addition to traditional casting, producers are hosting a digital open call for performers.
Anyone wishing to audition for Club Mex should send a 60-second video of themselves singing a contemporary pop song and telling a funny anecdote, via the show’s Instagram page.
There is no requirement for individuals to have had formal training. However, producers say they are looking for “people with funny bones and a strong vocal ability”.
Recalls will be held in London and Manchester next month.
Club Mex will run at the Hope Mill Theatre from January 17 to February 10, 2019.
